What is Amazon’s Prime Day?
Prime day is Amazon’s response to Black Friday deals. Amazon usually has Prime Day in the middle of the summer (June/July) as a way to give you some serious savings before the crazy shopping season that the fall and winter months entail.
This year, Amazon postponed prime day due to coronavirus. I would say that it was one of the (many) downfalls of the whole pandemic, but I’m thinking of it as a positive.
I don’t know about you, but I’m already starting to think about Christmas shopping. Having Prime Day pushed back is a perfect way for me to save even more money on Christmas gifts. And maybe even a little something for myself.
How to Shop on Amazon’s Prime Day
This is super important. Like, if you don’t read anything else on this page, read this part.
You have to have a membership for Amazon Prime to score the deals on Prime Day.
BUT.
You don’t have to actually pay for a membership to take advantage of the deals.
You read that right. Amazon Prime memberships are a little expensive (~$100/year). Now, if you use your Amazon Prime account for almost every purchase, like we do, it pays for itself a million times over. Seriously, we even buy our toilet paper from Amazon because it’s cheaper to buy it from them even with them shipping it to us.
Not sure how it works, but it does.
Again, don’t worry if you don’t want to get a membership. You don’t have to and you can still get awesome deals during Prime Day.
Amazon offers a free 30-day prime membership. The free 30 day membership lets you experience all of the benefits of prime without paying for it.
If you just want to use the free trial membership to shop during Prime Days, they don’t care!

Underground Dog Fence
We recently put our dogs in an underground fence around our property. Our underground fence has been a life saver.
One of our dogs is nearly blind and deaf (he’s 11) and the other one is busybody. He’s great for keeping animals out of our yard, but we didn’t want to have to worry about him going in to other people’s yards. He’s extremely friendly, but he’d already been hit by a car once when he darted across the road after a squirrel.
The underground fence is perfect because we can keep them in the yard without a bulky fence. We are able to fence off about 2 acres for them to roam.
The fence is under the ground, so we could put it around or chicken coop and garden with no problem. You can cut the grass right over the top of the fence and don’t have to worry about weed-eating a fence every time you cut the grass.
